Decorating a Food Table

Decorating a Food Table

Decorate a buffet table to put the finishing touches on a delicious food spread. Enhance the table to reflect a holiday party, bridal or baby shower, wedding reception or other special event theme. Incorporate the celebration's decor or color scheme into the table design through the use of tablecloths, candles and flowers. A well-decorated buffet table will give the party space a cohesive, put-together look. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Cover the food table with a crisp, wrinkle-free linen tablecloth. Choose a white cloth to create an elegant, classy look. Pick a brightly hued cloth to coordinate with a specific theme, such as turquoise for a beach-inspired reception or pink for a Valentine's Day party.

    2

Display the food in decorative and attractive vessels. Place cakes on tiered stands, salads in vintage crystal bowls, cupcakes on cupcake towers and drinks in sparkling carafes or punch bowls. Use bowls of seasonal produce, such as apples or oranges, to add color to the table.

    3

Create an eye-catching table centerpiece. Use festive decor items, such as bowls of shiny gold, red and green glass ornaments for a Christmas party, or pine cones and mini pumpkins for a Thanksgiving dinner. Add a touch of romance to a wedding reception with a vase of red roses or calla lilies.

    4

Scatter candles throughout the table to softly illuminate the food. Fill gold or silver candlesticks with tall taper candles for an elegant style. Use small glass tea light holders as a more subdued look.
