A bridal shower is an important tradition that involves a party thrown in the bride's name by a friend or family member to celebrate an upcoming wedding. Usually, bridal showers are either a catered affair at a home or thrown at a restaurant. A buffet service is a popular way of feeding the attendees since it encourages circulation and conversation amongst the party guests. A buffet is also a flexible way to serve both appetizers and entrees while decorating it in a fashionable manner. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Buffet Table Decorations
Select the table cloth and flowers to adorn the buffet table. It is best to tie in the complete color theme when selecting the linens and flowers. If the buffet service-ware is silver, crystal or silver vases look best.
Tie in the table cloth color with the table cloths used on the main tables. If you only have access to white linens, add a splash of coordinating color with a long strip of fabric in coordinating colors or sprinkle flower blossoms that reflect the shower's theme.
Don't forget about the lighting. You can either put small lit votives all over the table or a large set of candle sticks. If you are worried about the candles going out during the event, there are even battery operated candles you can use that you don't have to babysit throughout the event.
Wine Tasting and Appetizer Buffet
Prepare a wine tasting buffet table filled with various small samples of different wines. You can arrange the wines by color (red, white, rose) and by flavor (spicy, sweet, acidic). Serve on the side small bites and appetizers that pair nicely with wine instead of serving large heavy entrees. Appetizers like cheese, crackers, grapes, bruschetta, or marinated mozzarella are perfect to serve along with the wine.
Tea Party Buffet Table
Set up a tea party buffet table if you prefer a more lady-like bridal shower. Have a variety of tea ready to serve with sides of sugar, lemon and milk. Keep the food small and elegant by serving cucumber sandwiches and smoked salmon and cream cheese. Have plates of scones and cookies arranged on pretty plates garnished with fresh mint. Have large vases of roses, baby's breath or poppies to place on the table for a feminine touch. Use sterling silverware to add an upscale element. If you don't have sterling silverware, you can rent silverware from an event rental service.
