How to Build a Countertop Vanity

How to Build a Countertop Vanity

Countertop vanity mirrors enable you to see yourself close-up when you are applying makeup or putting on jewelry, and they're transportable, which every on-the-go diva knows is a handy thing. However, buying a countertop vanity from a department store or a home decorating shop might not fit into your budget. One option is to make your own countertop vanity using a few tools and materials that you can get at any hardware store or home improvement store. This way you can have your own efficient vanity without spending a fortune. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Drill a hole through a vertical wooden paper towel holder using a drill with a 1/4-inch drill bit. Position the hole horizontally 3 inches below the top end of the holder.

    2

Repeat this process with a second vertical wooden paper towel holder.

    3

Insert a 3-inch-long screw with a 2-inch-long shank into each holder.

    4

Drill the end of one of the screw into the side of a 8-inch wide, 10-inch long wood-framed mirror. Select a mirror whose wood frame creates a 2-inch perimeter around the mirror so that the wood can be drilled into effectively. Position the end of the screw 3 inches below the top edge of the mirror.

    5

Drill the end of the other screw into the other side of the wood-framed mirror. Position the end of the screw 3 inches below the top edge of the mirror, as before.

    6

Paint the wooden paper towel holders and wooden frame using latex paint to decorate it as you prefer. Allow the paint to dry for 6 to 8 hours.

    7

Place the vanity onto a countertop for use. The mirror will be suspended above the countertop; you can adjust its angle as you require.
