If you want a comfortable place to apply your makeup, a makeup table is an ideal solution. You want the best set up possible, so it's important to have necessary items on hand. Once you find the right place, as well as the right tools and accessories for your makeup table, you'll enjoy applying your cosmetics in stylish comfort. Does this Spark an idea?
The Right Placement
Where you place your makeup table is very important. You want it close to natural light, but you don't want it sitting in direct sunlight; too much heat will have an adverse effect on your cosmetics, causing them to lose effectiveness and perhaps go bad. You can place your table near a window, but make sure the sun doesn't shine directly on any makeup you have sitting on top of it.
While your bedroom is a good place for a makeup table, if you have a roomy bathroom that can hold a small table, this is a good place, too.
Brush Storage
You should store makeup brushes upright, with the bristles pointing upward. They shouldn't be crowded close together, so depending on the number of brushes you own, you may be fine with a small container or you may need something roomier.
A simple brush holder you can use is a tall, plastic container in any color. Choose a color that complements the room and/or makeup table for a uniform look. If you want something fancier, an old vase in an antique style would be a fun way to hold your brushes.
Makeup Storage
If your makeup table has drawers, you should store your makeup in them. This keeps the makeup protected from light and heat, which can cause them to break down before they should. You can find a variety of inexpensive, plastic containers with a number of compartments that will hold your makeup securely and neatly.
For a very organized look, arrange your makeup according to type. Place all of your lipsticks in one container or compartment; do the same with your eye shadows, eye liners, blushes and lip liners. You can take this organization a step further by arranging your cosmetics by color or color family.
Plenty of Mirrors
You need at least one big mirror at your makeup table, but having a few smaller ones is helpful as well. The big mirror allows you to see your entire face as you work and to take in your completed look. Small mirrors can help you see detail work, or can magnify your features to help identify areas you need to see up close.
